Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will Kathleen travel for school visits?
Yes. Kathleen loves visiting kids all over the country. Discounts are available if booking for more than one day or one school in the same area or school district. The school pays for the flight, lodging, and meals, as well as author fees and per diem.
  • Does Kathleen sell books?
Yes. Books can be pre-ordered and signed the day she visits your school. The time for book signing will be in addition to the program selected. When incorporating an author visit as part of your school literacy program, it just makes sense to encourage and foster a love of reading and books. A great way to do this is by continuing the excitement by giving kids the opportunity to take home a signed book of their very own.
  • What size class do these programs work for?
A smaller class is preferred, so each child is acknowledged and encouraged to engage. A class size of 10-25 is recommended. Depending on age, up to 45 may be accepted.
  • What about lunches?
Kathleen eats light while traveling. A great lunch is either a grilled chicken salad wrap or a wrap (with dressing on the side!). A cold bottle of water is perfect. Also, while she does not mind eating with teachers, she prefers not to have lunch with students as she needs a little downtime between presentations. If your school usually includes an author lunch with kids as part of your program, that is fine, but please set aside a separate time for Kathleen to eat alone.
  • How about virtual visits?
Yes! Virtual visits are also age-appropriate. They are a variation of the programs listed above. The presentation will just have to be adjusted because of the medium. Virtual visits are charged per session with no extra fees. The school is required to set up either Zoom or Google connections.
  • What is Kathleen's COVID-19 vaccination status?
Kathleen is fully vaccinated and is visiting virtually or in person locations that adhere to CDC recommendations.
